Building Cohesion for a Financial Services Merger
THE ASK
When two premier financial services companies merged under one brand, we were there to help them reimagine their internal incentive program to align with their business objective of bringing two audiences together.
The ask was to unify the motivation of 1,600 employees across a wide range of ages and previously disparate business cultures to ensure they felt appreciated and recognized while aligning them to a new vision moving forward.
THE SOLUTION
There were two important components of our solution: the structure of the event and the theme, both of which would be drivers of their new culture.
Our operations team partnered closely with the client’s executive team to assess their values, leadership style and tone. Likewise, we gathered insights to understand the expectations of each audience. This enabled us to design a balanced agenda that found a middle ground as a jumping off point for the new culture and vision of the merger. For example, one group was accustomed to free time as the ultimate reward while another was accustomed to networking opportunities and group recognition. We drove alignment by considering all these inputs and not only finding a compromise, but creating a fresh brand with energy, excitement, and positivity.
We branded the program based on the theme “Better Together” which clearly communicated the goal of the experience in two simple words. We used the client’s tropical incentive destination as inspiration and incorporated bright colors and palm trees for a vibrant, vacation feel. Every aspect of the program was branded from beach balls to drink coasters to digital communications, driving a unified voice and cohesive experience for attendees, that was entirely unique from any existing branding.
