Re-Designing a Travel Program to Drive Participant Satisfaction
THE ASK
BCD Meetings & Events embraced the challenge of redesigning a premier financial client’s company-wide incentive program - a well-executed program that received rave participant reviews in previous years, but still ran the risk of complacency. They wanted us to drive even higher participant satisfaction, mix up the approach, and ensure the logistics stayed in budget.

Meet budget and deliver an event that performs even better on evaluations than the previous year.
THE SOLUTION
Partnering with program stakeholders along with our client’s internal communication, event marketing and HR teams, we delivered a highly audience-centric rewards and recognition program. The audience was marvelously inclusive – all employees were welcome and eligible to qualify. The 12-month program in its entirety needed to appeal to diverse employee base – considering a range of tenure, office locations (including remote employees), all lines of business and various qualification parameters.
Additionally, we needed to switch up the location for the main event. For the first time in 9 years, we proposed taking the program out of the familiar footprint while still keeping the budgetary limitations in mind. Phoenix AZ rose to the challenge – the program took advantage of high season airlift to make it accessible, and once on the ground, Phoenix offers accommodations, venues and activities tailored to the program’s needs. The client embraced the opportunity to deviate from the norm, and the new destination became a key factor in cultivating interest. With the new location, we embraced the spirit of adventure and incorporated a ‘Go West’ mentality into the event branding, communications, and onsite experience.
Our production team worked to innovate the awards night - implementing new ways of recognizing 400 individuals on stage. Every winner experienced an authentic moment of recognition without compromising the energy and celebratory feel of an awards night.
We focused on building confidence as a theme and added Purpose Lounge in which participants could book time during registration to meet exclusively with executives. Keynote speakers were selected for their expertise in helping people develop a strong mindset, build confidence, and resilience, while activities centered on bold experiences that embraced the western mentality and landscape.
